The Progression System

The progression system starts you off jumping on a static line - from a very basic level you learn about every aspect of jumping taking you through freefall up to Category 8. For 150 we'll make the trip up to the North West Parachute Center in Cumbria, where you will take part in a days training course undertaken by one of the many experienced parachuting instructors. This includes lectures and practical sessions on all aspects of parachuting, including amongst others your exit, body position, canopy control, landing, what to do if you should experience a malfunction (don't worry - malfunctions on static line jumps are virtually unheard of), and the reserve procedures. The progression system works in stages, beginning on a static line where your parachute will automatically open for you, progressing onto freefall, learning skills such as turning and tracking eventually resulting in a Category 8 Qualification. Once Cat 8 you can start jumping with other people and learn how to make freefall formations, as well as learning the more complicated aspects of skydiving such as head down, freeflying and skysurfing!
